Stepping up a gear faster with Melotte

If you work in the petrochemical industry, you’ll know that situations can arise where you urgently need specific high-precision components. And you’ll also be aware that, in some cases, they’re not in stock anywhere. Of course, this usually happens at the most inopportune moment – at the weekend or on a public holiday, for instance. At times like that, there’s only one place to go: Melotte in Zonhoven.
Your business is our business
The production of LDPE (low-density polyethylene) requires highly specialized knowledge and the high-pressure components in your plant have to withstand a great deal. But our employees deal with all sorts of challenges in this area on a daily basis, such as very specific materials, certifications, procedures and surface treatments. “I’ve seen some amazing things in the 43 years I’ve worked at Melotte,” says Romain Schepers. “The technology has advanced in leaps and bounds over the years and it’s fascinating to be able to draw on all that history and at the same time be at the forefront of the latest innovations.”
Building trust
“Our relationship with some of our petrochemical customers goes back 35 years,” Romain points out. “By now we know exactly what to expect from each other (laughs). All the major market players are customers of ours, so it’s safe to say that we have a wealth of knowledge in-house. And that we know all about how to deal with confidential and sensitive information. But another thing worth pointing out is our range of equipment, which is unique in Europe and is regularly supplemented with new additions, such as the Ibarmia, which can be used specifically for the petrochemical industry for large components such as yokes (component parts of a compressor).”
When every second counts
“If production is shut down at the plant of one of our petrochemical customers, every second counts. We know that all too well. That’s why we pull out all the stops to find a quick solution. This might involve redesigning an existing component, developing a new one or supplying parts that Melotte already has in stock. At that point, there’s only one thing on our mind: how can we sort out our customer’s problem as quickly as possible?”
