Remember the Belgian Innoptus Solar Team? Well, Melotte once again collaborated this year on the Innoptus Solar Team’s latest solar car. To be more specific, among other things, Melotte produced the newly-designed wheel house and delivered it to very precise specifications.

About the Innoptus Solar Team

The Innoptus Solar Team is a team of Belgian engineering students that competes to build the most innovative and efficient solar car. They are the current world champions, having won races in Chile, Australia, and Belgium.

Next up on the agenda: the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, which will run from October 22 – 29, 2023. It will cover a distance of more than 3,000 kilometers through the Australian Outback, from Darwin in the north of the country to Adelaide in the south.

About the newly-designed wheel house

This year, Melotte supported the Innoptus Solar Team with the production of the newly-designed wheel house. This wheel house will function as housing for the wheel system and as steering system for the active wheel cover system, which is one of the new technologies of the latest solar car.

Melotte’s newest milling machine, the Yasda PX30i, was used for the production of these parts. The Yasda PX30i makes it possible to manufacture even more unique and complex products that involve specific quality requirements.

Stay tuned

Stay tuned for more updates because in a few weeks, we’ll be publishing more pictures on our social media channels of the Melotte parts being mounted into the solar car.
