Innoptus Solar Team wins the Electrek American Solar Challenge

Groepsfoto solar taem 2026

The Innoptus Solar Team once again demonstrated the power of Belgian innovation by winning the recent Electrek American Solar Challenge, a demanding solar race across the United States.

As a proud sponsor, Melotte contributed several high-precision components that were used in the team's solar car. Thanks to our advanced manufacturing expertise, we help make innovative technologies more reliable, efficient, and future-ready.

This victory was even more remarkable given that it was the first time the team participated in the race in North America. Therefore, they had to successfully tackle new routes, regulations, and racing conditions. This achievement highlights the strength of collaboration between industry and engineering talent.

Congratulations to the entire Innoptus Solar Team on this outstanding result. We are proud to support their journey and look forward to seeing their next innovations in sustainable mobility.

Improving quality insights in 3D metal printing

amsight

At Melotte, we believe that innovation starts with curiosity and continuous improvement. That’s why our teams are currently testing the amsight data system to better understand how process parameters in 3D-metal printing relate to final part quality. The amsigt system is a specialized, AI-driven software platform that acts like a digital quality backbone.

By linking production data with CT scan insights, we're exploring how critical to quality parameters can be identified earlier in the production process. This will help us learn, improve, and further strengthen our expertise in advanced manufacturing.

This learning journey is assisting us as we work towards lower inspection costs, while improving compliance, predictability and proces reliability - key factors in strengthening our position within complex supply chains.

3D-metal printing for the semicon industry

AM machine sturing

Process stability and quality assurance are crucial in 3D metal printing for the semiconductor industry, where precision, cleanliness, and reliability are non negotiables. Printing complex vacuum tight and pressure tight components requires a highly robust and controlled process, especially when internal structures are difficult to inspect.

To further enhance the repeatability and reliability of printed metal components, Melotte has started a research project together with experts from KU Leuven and Ghent University. Thanks to the financial support from VLAIO, we’re working to further push the boundaries of stable, high quality production for advanced semiconductor applications.

Stay tuned for more updates on this research project!

Melotte wishes you a wonderful end to the year and a great start to 2026
